Do you ever feel consumed, burdened, overwhelmed with life? Let’s face it, raising kids, going to work, serving in ministry, and being a wife can be so draining at times. It’s work! And not to mention when life is just in that difficult season for a given period of time. So, where can we turn to find the strength and wisdom to face whatever life throws our way? I have four words for you: The Word of God.
Yep, God’s word can restore you; it can renew you; it can direct you; it can heal you; it can transform you, and it can refresh you. I don’t know about you, but I can use some refreshing moments in my day. Psalms 119:50 says, “This is my comfort in my affliction for Your word has given me life.” Amen!!!!
My memorization of verses has gone by the way side. Yeah, I read and study my bible and everything, but I’m talking about storing God’s word in my heart, not just my mind. It needs to penetrate the very depths of our souls. Lately, I’ve been getting back into the memorizing a verse every week. Let me tell you, only a few days after I started memorizing my verse, I was riding in my car and some thoughts of discouragement began to find their way into my mind. I was opening the door wide open, too! That is until the verse I was memorizing popped into my mind. God, through His Holy Spirit, used that very verse I had been studying to distinguish the negative thoughts that was trying its best to over take me.
Those thoughts were taken captive: Gone!
I don’t think I’m the only one who needs God to confine some negative thoughts or lies that have been robbing us of our peace. If you can relate to any of this, would you be willing to join me in the act of placing God’s word firmly in your hearts? May our very words be that of Psalms 119: 10, “With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wonder from Your commandments!”
Here is my verse for this week:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29: 11-12.
Remember to pray without ceasing……………….
