Here is a question I’ve been pondering this past week, why do I find it so hard just to be in the presence of God? I strive to find the quick answers. I push through life trying to accomplish and achieve. And most of the time, all this does is create a stressful and overwhelming life.
See if this sounds familiar…….When I was in school, I felt I could (should) be achieving more. When I was in the work force, I felt I should be striving pushing to get higher up the ladder. When I was home with my family there was always this push to be the perfect mom and wife. And of course, have that perfect model home thing going…like that was going to happen.
And most of the things I was striving after were for outside appearances, but there was a greater work going on the inside.
Sitting at the feet of Jesus might be the rest, joy, and peace that we need, no matter what season of life you might find ourselves in.
Here is what I believe to be the characteristics of a person’s life that has the true contentment and rest that God offers in their lives: You would find a refreshed, renewed, and peaceful person. One who can get up and go live the life and purpose God has for them. And instead of being the person they are striving to be, they are able to be the person God has designed them to be.
Are you in a situation this week were there is no quick fix for your problem? Is God calling you in the midst of your circumstance to completely find your rest in Him?
Will you join me in quieting down our lives a bit and taking the time to hear the quiet whisper of God’s gentle voice? What is He trying to tell you?
Do you know who you are? Do you know your purpose? What season are you in right now?
I can “be” because I know whose child I am. I can trust because I know who has me in the palm of His hand. I can fight and strive to no end, or I can be content in just “being” the person you’re creating me to be within.
May the joy of the Lord be real and complete in your life.
This is dedicated to all those who are going through difficult times right now. May you find true rest in the One who can give it. I love you.
