God-Centered vs Self-Centered living

I have been heavily dissecting and digesting the book Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby. Oh, how I want to experience God in a big way in my life! So as I seek to grow and be made more and more in Christ’s image by the Holy Spirit’s power living and residing in me, I seek to grow as one of Christ’s disciples not living by a set of list of rules but continuously seeking to be solely fixed upon Him. I love because He first loved me. I am created in His image, and that is where my value comes from.

Below is something from the book. Beware it is very counter-cultural! …….God is transforming lives.

God-centered living
confidence in God
dependence upon God
life focused on God
denying self
seeking first the kingdom of God
seeking God’s perspective
holy and godly living (set apart)

Self-centered living
life focused on self
pride in self and self’s accomplishments
depending on one’s own abilities
affirming self
seeking to be acceptable to the world and it’s ways
looking at circumstances from a human perspective
selfish and ordinary living

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. John 15:18

In this world you will have many tribulations; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1
