What’s a girl to “do”

There I was again searching Amazon for resources or a book that would solve all my problems and give me adequate information on how to grow in a particular area in my life. I’m sure it wouldn’t surprise you if I said, “We are people who are always looking for something to do or a quick solution on how to do it.” We as moms are always searching for the ten steps on how to potty train a child, or 7 ways to get your child to listen. Or it can get even more spiritual where the questions may become….How do I position myself to hear from God? How many bible studies to I actually have to attend, anyways? How many times do I have to read my bible a week to be in a deep relationship with Him? How often should I pray before I can expect to receive an answer from God

I have heard many of these questions asked. I have found myself searching and asking some of these same questions. All I can say is…..information over-load.
So, why aren’t we content on just being? Why is His presence not enough? Let me describe it this way…..My husband is the hardest working man I know. He provides so well for our family, and he takes pride in doing so. However, there are times when he gets so focused on what he is doing that I can feel left out of his world. He is not doing it intentionally; however, he is just busy “doing.” And what I seek is his time and a personal relationship with him. I just want him to “be” with me, while I’m not expecting anything just his presence.
Maybe, just maybe, God is looking down on us in the same way. He just wants us to quit trying to figure out how to “do” the next thing, and He is waiting for us to come “be” in His presence. No strings attached. He will do all the work. Infact, He did do all the work when He came in the form of a man-Jesus. And looking at Jesus’ life, you can see He did nothing of His own accord. He continually went to have time with His Father in Heaven. He emptied Himself, laid His life down willing, served sacrificially, and humbled Himself. (Phil. 2:5-8)
How is that for a to-do list?
If your still not convinced and need some things to “do”, below I compiled a list of actions words I found in the scriptures.
Put- on the full armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18)
Resist- Satan and he will flee from you (James 4:7)
Believe- on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31)
Present- your body as a sacrifice (Romans 12:1)
Seek- first the kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33)
Trust- in the Lord with all your heart (Prov. 3:5-6)
Abide- in Christ for apart from Him you can do nothing (John 15)
Pray- without ceasing (1 Thes. 5:17)
Fix- your eyes on Christ ( Heb. 12:1-2)
Meditate- upon His word (Psalms 1:2)
Press on- toward the goal (Phil. 3:12-14)
Walk- by faith (2 Cor. 5:7)
May we all be able to say that we have a personal love relationship with Jesus. I challenge you to just sit and be still in His presence…Be still and know He is God.
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden light. (Matt. 11:28)
